Your school can be a Save the Whales School
The “Whales or Gas?” campaign aims to defend Mexican whales and preserve the Gulf of California, preventing it from being irreparably damaged by the massive transportation of fossil gas.
The “Whales or Gas?” campaign aims to defend Mexican whales and preserve the Gulf of California, preventing it from being irreparably damaged by the massive transportation of fossil gas.
We propose involving students through 3 steps:
From elementary to high school, students can channel their desire to protect whales and their ecosystem through a proactive, playful campaign that highlights the value of caring for our common home.
1. Awareness:
Schools will receive materials to hold short talks explaining the ecological importance of the Gulf of California and the current issues it faces. The content can be adapted depending on the age and location of the school.
2. Action:
Students will be invited to support the cause through drawings, poems, written pieces, or poster designs promoting whale protection. These can be addressed to authorities such as SEMARNAT or even the President.
3. Submission:
Schools will be encouraged to send students’ creations, and the “Whales or Gas?” campaign will ensure they reach the authorities or become part of collective exhibits in support of Mexican whales.
The campaign will protect the identity of all participating students. If agreed, only their first name and age will be included in the submitted works.
The works created will become part of the digital or printed campaign materials, and will also be delivered to authorities to carry the voices of students to those who can stop these harmful projects.
Do you want your school to be part of the network?
Send us your school’s logo and we’ll add it to show that we are many who want to defend the whales.
